Looking at the Carosello Mezzo Lungo Barese, or Medium Long of Barese. This is a cylindrical bitter-free burpless cucumber variety slightly longer than the Carosello Mezzo Lungo Polignano. Both varieties are indigenous to Southern Italy. In this video, I show my little trial patch of "half-longs"...

Crawling garden pests can wreak havoc on cucumber and melon vines. To protect plants from critters, you can put up a barrier between the plant and the rest of the garden.

While I use plastic deli cups for this purpose, plant collars can be made from a variety of materials.

This was a great transaction! I loved shopping with a small business owner who takes such pride and care in his products, shipping and instructions. Every single one of my Sumter cucumber seeds sprouted using Jay's suggested method of sprouting in a moist paper towel, and I am going out right now to plant them while dreaming of a bounty of delicious pickles!

I have never had so many cucumbers in all my gardening years - and they are NOT bitter! One problem the envelopes with the name of the variety of cucumber on them fell and I couldn't remember what varieties I bought. I figured out the salt and pepper my new FAVORITE but the other 2 are just a guess. Cucumber plant care stayed on fine so I was able to get the "Where" I bought them from. I will certainly buy again! Notice in back of raspberry plants the cucumber plants soaring over my 6 ft trellis.

This review is long overdue but I am so happy with my cucamelon seeds!! Prompt shipping, helpful instructional video (link provided in email from seller) on how to germinate the seeds prior to planting, and the seller even included some tomato seeds free of charge. My seeds are all sprouting, looking happy and healthy, and I will definitely be buying more from this seller in the future!!
